Welcome to The Kings Arms, a family-run restaurant & hotel with a heart for community, comfort, and countryside charm. Nestled in the stunning village of Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales, The Kings Arms is a place where locals and visitors alike can feel right at home. Whether you’re walking the moors, cycling the passes, or simply looking for a romantic getaway, our doors are open and the fire’s always on.

As a family, we’ve poured our passion into restoring and reimagining this historic inn – combining relaxed, with elevated dining, locally sourced food, and a carefully curated drinks list featuring regional ales, great wines, and quality spirits.

We’re proud to welcome everyone – from loyal locals to adventurous hikers, bikers and weekend wanderers. Dogs are welcome, muddy boots encouraged, and laughter always expected.

History

Built in 1734 by a wealthy local lead mine owner, The King’s Arms Hotel is one of Reeth’s most iconic buildings. Affectionately known as The Middle House due to its central position among the trio of historic buildings facing the village green, it has long been at the heart of village life.

Now a Grade II listed building, it has served many purposes over the centuries. From its origins as a private residence, it later became Clarkson’s Store, a well-known local drugstore, before transforming into a coaching inn catering to travellers crossing the Dales. In later years, it even operated as a café, further cementing its place in Reeth’s evolving social history.

Today, The King’s Arms is a warm and welcoming inn, retaining many of its original 18th-century features. Exposed oak beams and a magnificent large open fire—the jewel in its crown—create a timeless atmosphere, offering comfort and character in equal measure. With its period sash windows, stone fireplaces, and historic staircase, the King’s Arms is a living piece of Swaledale heritage.
